Our Adoption Centre is run by a dedicated team of cat lovers, consisting of a small number of staff and over 40 volunteers. We’re dedicated to improving the lives of cats and kittens in Forth Valley, working to find loving new homes for local cats in our care, offering support with neutering, and lost and found cats, as well as general education and awareness within the Forth Valley area. Our centre is open from 1.30-3.30 every day except Tuesdays, for those interested in adopting a cat. Throughout the pandemic, our brilliant team learned even more about the cats in our care, who became less stressed during the quiet of lockdown. Therefore, there are a few changes to our process. When you come to the centre during the opening times, you’ll fill out some details and chat with one of our knowledgeable team who will then look at which cats might be a good match. We will then take you to meet the cat(s) that you have been matched with, making our building calmer and our feline residents happier.

We encourage you to continue to look here in the first instance for cats that are ready for adoption, especially as we are a small centre which means we might not always have cats available. If you spot a cat that you are interested in here, then get in touch using the button and one of the team can arrange to send out the questionnaire in advance to complete ahead of visiting the centre, and can also advise if the cat will be a good match for you. We also continue to make appointments in advance when potential matches have been made, and can discuss this with you following completion of the questionnaire.

The centre will also now be completely closed each day between 12-1 and so please leave a message if calling at this time and we will then get back to you.

Our cat care shop continues to be open daily from 10-12 & 1-3 for both preloved and new cat care related items, and our lovely range of cat themed gifts. We also have the exclusive Cat Care Collection. Please see below.

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in the Forth Valley area? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

We now operate on an appointment only basis for meeting cats, after a potential match has been made following the process outlined below. This is because during lockdown, when members of the public could no longer drop in and visit the cats, we discovered that the cats coming into our care settled more quickly and all cats were generally happier, so now most of the adoption process is carried out online and over the phone so that we can leave the cats to enjoy a calmer, more peaceful environment.

Please note our adoption fee is £100 for a cat or £120 for a kitten under the age of six months.

Our Adoption Process follows as below:

  • Enquire. If you’ve found a cat on our website that you’re interested in homing, send an enquiry through to us by clicking the 'enquire about......' button on their individual listing. 
  • Reserve your cat. If you’re found to be a match for your chosen cat, you’ll be contacted by our team via phone or email to discuss your application. You will be asked for proof of your address and the consent of your landlord (if you live in a rented property). 
  • Adopt. You will then be invited in to meet your chosen cat at the centre and discuss their individual needs and requirements. If it is the 'purrfect match', we will arrange to email you our adoption paperwork. We will also arrange an 'cat care talk' appointment for you with one of our cat carers. This can be done via telephone or you can come into the centre to do this. This is so we can discuss the adoption paperwork with you, and give you advice on how to look after your new feline friend and settled them into their new home. It also give you an opportunity to ask us any questions and find out more information about your chosen cat.
  • Bringing your cat home. Once the paperwork is finalised and we have carried our your 'cat care talk', we’ll arrange an appointment for you to collect your cat from the centre. You will also have an opportunity to buy any supplies you need for your new cat and pay the adoption fee. 
  • Be supported. You’ll receive a follow-up call or email around three, seven and 21 days after the adoption to check that your new arrival is settling in. You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice

Any cat adopted from our centre will be:

  • neutered
  • microchipped
  • fully vet checked
  • treated for fleas and worms
  • initial vaccination (against cat flu, feline infectious enteritis and feline leukaemia virus).
  • and four weeks free insurance from Pet Plan.

Please note, these are all the cats currently available for adoption. We are a small centre and although we have more cats in care, not all are ready for their new homes. As soon as cats become ready for adoption they will be added onto the website, so if none of the cats currently available suit your needs, please keep checking regularly for new cats looking for their forever homes. 


Before viewing our cats, please bear also bear in mind the following:-

1) The majority of people are looking for kittens and cats up to the age of 2 years old.

2) The majority of our cats are older than this. The average life expectancy of a cat is 17-18 years old and some survive into their 20s, so an 8 year old cat still has many good years to come.

Volunteer at Cats Protection Forth Valley Adoption Centre

Without volunteers, Forth Valley Adoption Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Forth Valley, you'll enjoy practical benefits such as discounted pet insurance.

Lost and found cats in Forth Valley

Have you lost or found a cat in the Forth Valley area? We’re here to help you. To report a lost cat, or if you have found a cat in the Forth Valley area, please call us on 07584 888 195 or email: forthvalleycplostandfound@gmail.com.

You can also contact us via our dedicated Forth Valley Lost and Found Facebook page. 

Lost a cat? We’re here to help you. We can add your cat to our Lost & Found Facebook page & check to see if any cats are a possible match. Email us or message us some clear photos which show your cat's colour and markings. We also need these details:

  • Your name, address & phone number.
  • Your cat's name & the date & time your cat went missing.
  • If they had a collar on and what colour it is.
  • Are they microchipped with contact details up to date?
  • Tell us if they are neutered or not.
  • Let us know if this out of character for them.

We will only publish your street name in the appeal and none of the other personal details.

Found a cat? Please email us full details, as above and let us know where and when the cat was found and how long it has been around and include a photo. 

Please consider if the cat is definitely lost or if it could belong to a neighbour. Cats are free roaming, inquisitive creatures, who like to explore their neighbourhood. If the cat is unwell or injured, please call the SSPCA on: 03000 999 999
